The initial alien selection and opening hands weight the game very heavily in one player’s favor or another at the outset, and the cards play such a big role that even smart play often isn’t enough to change the fate you’ve been handed. I actually quite enjoy it but I understand why people don’t. I already have both expansions for ti3 anyway, so all I am getting is the new tech system and tweaked rules/races. Well, if I hadnt just bought a house, maybe I could afford 4th edition. One of the only games I kickstarted, and boy was it worth it. They threw in so many extra mods, and options for team fights, tag team, boss battles, campaign mode. It never outstays its welcome, and is easy for newbies to get into. Isle of Skye is both a bidding game and tile placement game that has variable objectives that change every match.
